Major Benny von Berka is a very handsome 3-4 year old German Shepherd. The Major is so alert, you will want to salute when you meet him! With perfect posture and a svelte physique, Major Benny is the very picture of the breed’s intelligence and focus. He pays very little attention to other dogs and, in fact, is quite shy around them in his playgroup. He enjoys the security of human attention though and, after a while, relaxes enough to explore. Major Benny remains calmly disciplined when walking with other dogs, too. He is clearly looking for someone to love and guide him in his life. On walks, he peers into every car to see if it holds the person who will take him to his forever home. If it weren’t so heartbreaking, it would be comical to see this beautiful dog earnestly examining parked cars, ears straight up, nose at the ready, eyes silently pleading. He is so impressive, people stop and comment on his military bearing and athleticism. Given time and one-on-one attention, Major Benny’s hope will be restored and he will blossom into the most loyal (and good-looking) companion you could ever hope for. We want to be able to tell him someday very soon, “At ease, Major".
